Plantation drive cum awareness camp held at Khanmoh


Social Forestry plantation drive March 6SRINAGAR : With the advent of spring in Kashmir, the Social Forestry Department has launched a massive plantation drive in the Valley. In this connection, various degraded forest areas, community waste lands, road side verges and various Government-cum-Private institutions are being enriched with tree planting. The trees planted are ornamental, avenue plants and conifers.
In addition to the plantation drive awareness camps are being organized in various schools and institutions to enlighten the students about the importance of tree planting. In this regard planting ceremonial was held at Higher Secondary Institute, Khanmoh on March 06, 2014 which was attended by Divisional Forest Officer, Social Forestry Division, Srinagar, Mr. Nazir-be-Nazir (Social Activist) Chairman National Society for Water Resources Wetlands & Forests, staff of Social Forestry Range Srinagar, Principal Higher Secondary Institute, teaching staff and other prominent citizens of the area.
The Divisional Forest Officer Social Forestry Division Srinagar appealed to general public to come forward and render their services in achievement of noble cause through tree planting.
