Police arrested two extortionists in Qazikund

Kulgam, January 01: Two extortionists have been arrested in Qazikund area of Kulgam Village after a doctor filed complaint with the police.

As per this report filed by a local daily,  Dr Bilal Ahmad Beg, resident of Khrewan Lasipora has complained that two men posing as Hizb-ul-Mujahdeen militants has been harrasing him and his family and has been asking a sum of rupees 32,000 from his sister and brother -in-law.

The doctor while talking to this local daily also said that the extortionists even barged into his house in his absence and threatened his family and asked for money. He said that the two gunmen ransacked his belongings and told my sister, who is also working in health that militant outfit has deputed them to collect money from affluent people. The Doctor’s sister handed him an amount of Rs 32,000. But next morning, one of the extortionist visited Emergency Hospital Qazigund, where his sister is posted.

“She recognized the men and after which we contacted police and they arrested him,” the doctor said.

The other person was arrested after he identified him during interrogation. As per police, the two men has been identified as Muzafar Ahmed Bhat, Nisar Ahmed Bhat, both residents of Nasu Bhadragund Qazigund.

During investigation, the police found out that these men have used riffle that belongs to a police official named Muhammad Yousuf Teli. The official belongs to Army’s Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry Division (JAKLI) and is posted at 19 RR’s Larkipora Anantnag camp.

Reportedly, Muhammad Yousuf Teli according to Dr Bilal arrived at his home along with some of his family members and confessed that extortionists used his service rifle in the crime.

As per police, a case under FIR number 303/2015 under section 452, 386 has been registered in this regard investigation is going on.
