Police pays tribute to SI killed in Srinagar militant attack


SRINAGAR: Police paid floral tributes to a Sub Inspector (SI), who was killed when militants attacked a naka party in Srinagar outskirts Friday afternoon.

A wreath laying ceremony was held on Friday evening in District Police Lines Srinagar, where floral tributes were paid to the martyr SI Imran Ahmad Tak, who gave supreme sacrifice of his life in a militant attack. Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir range, Muneer Khan led the police and civil officers in laying the floral wreaths on the body of the martyr.

“I salute to the bravery and valour of SI Tak, who gave supreme sacrifice for the sake of nation. My heart goes to this bereaved family,” Director General of Police (DGP) S P Vaid wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.

Tak was killed and a Special Police Officer (SPO) was injured when three militants, travelling in a car, fired at police personnel after being intercepted at the checkpoint at Zakoora crossing on Srinagar-Sonamarg road this afternoon.
