At least 28 people were injured on Thursday in a grenade attack by suspected terrorists at the crowded general bus stand in the heart of Jammu, a senior police officer said.
“It was a grenade explosion, all the injured have been shifted to a hospital,” IGP Jammu, MK Sinha had initially said
“All of them have been shifted to a hospital. Five of the injured have sustained critical injuries,” Sinha said.
Inspector General of Police Manish Kumar Sinha told reporters at the site that the grenade probably rolled under a parked bus before it went off with a loud explosion around 11.30 a.m.
The area was cordoned off by security forces.
A police officer said the grenade had been placed under a bus.
“We are working on all the leads. We are collecting the evidence and will hunt down the perpetrators,” a police officer told reporters.
Soon after the incident, police rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. Forensic experts were also called in to lift evidence.
Thursday’s is the third such attack at the Jammu General Bus Stand by militants in the last nine months.
