The woman received serious injuries after the fall and the Block Medical Officer (BMO) has questioned the lapse on the part of the contractor further ordering an investigation in the matter.

The incident is from yesterday when 25-yr-old Gurmeet Kaur, of Laswada in Bishnah,  was visiting the Government Hospital for checkup. Instead of covering the manhole, the contractor had simply placed a small board. As Gurmeet put a step on the board, it broke and she fell inside the manhole.

As soon as the the authorities were informed about the incident, they rushed to the spot to bring her out to security.

Gurmeet was rescued with multiple bruises and injuries all over the body. The doctors immediately performed an ultrasound on her to check the status of the baby. The BMO, Dr Desraj has assured that the baby is healthy and has received no harm. He has further assured that the case would be investigated thoroughly.
