Pregnant woman killed after speeding car hits motorcycle


NEW DELHI: A 22-year-old pregnant woman was killed while her husband sustained injuries when their motorcycle was hit by a speeding car in North West Delhi’s Jahangir Puri area, police said Monday.

Sugandhi was five months pregnant, they said.

The woman, identified as Sugandhi, died on the spot, while her husband Jitendra Kumar is undergoing treatment at a hospital, the police said.

Eyewitnesses said that after hitting the couple’s motorcycle, the car driver did not stop and fled the spot.

Mr. Jitender, who works as a medical representative, said that he tried to revive his injured wife on his own for 15 minutes as people passed by them without lending any help.

The couple was travelling from Noida to Nangloi on a motorcycle when a speeding car hit them near Mukundpur flyover around 5.30 pm, the police said.
