Protests break inside NIT Srinagar again as students not allowed to meet media

Srinagar April 8: The NIT Srinagar controversy is refusing to die down and has again picked up heat as protests have broken inside the NIT Srinagar campus again.

The outstation students are trying to come out of the main gate of the college campus to interact with the mediapersons stationed outside the college but the police has blocked the road leading to loud sloganeering.

Also, inputs from police sources in Srinagar confirm that the 20 FIRs registered yesterday are against the outstation students and a faculty member who also is a non-local. The police has not named these 20 people yet. The faculty member is alleged to have provided the official Tricolour flag to the protesting students which can be procured only through official permission. The faculty member has been charged with inciting the students.

The J&K police had released a video of students rummaging through the NIT campus and vandalizing the property.

At the time of reporting the situation today had been brought under control.

More inputs shortly.
