Protests in Kashmir over alleged police torture

Srinagar: Massive protests erupted in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Monday after residents alleged that security forces tortured four people during a search operation to nab separatist guerrillas hiding in the area.

A large number of people assembled outside the district magistrate’s office demanding action over the incident.

Some protesters pelted stones at the army camp in Chuntimullah village in the district, 70 km north of Srinagar.
