Pulwama, January 12: As both administration and local residents remained unbending of their separate decision installation of militant memorial in Pulwama, the shutdown in district has today entered for the 13th day.
The public transport has remained shut and businesses were closed in the district for the last 13 days. The protesters have gone violent in order to press their demand to erect a memorial to militants at a park in Pulwama town which the district administration has refused.
The administration was attempting everything to solve the crisis, said Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama, Niraj Kumar but there has been no agreement between both the sides so far which has resulted in the shutdown and aggression by the local youth.
The report said that the mosque committees and trader bodies of the district are also supporting local residents in their demands. The shutdown has been backed by many trader associations across the district.
“There would be no photographs on the memorial plaque that could be provocative or that instigate youth,” said chairman of the Auqaf Committee, Bashir Ahmad Shah.
