Parents owe great responsibility in ward’s physical development: Vijaya
Jammu: As a part of civic action program (CAP), Jammu and Kashmir Police Wives Welfare Association (PWWA) conducted a competition among the wards of SPOs and police personnel at Police Auditorium Gulshan Ground here today.
Chairperson JK Police Wives Welfare Association, Mrs. K. Vijaya inaugurated the day long Competition, in which thousands of wards of police parivar, besides students from Police Public School Miran Sahib participated. Parents of the wards were also present on the occasion. The competition was held in two sessions viz Healthy Baby Competition and Fancy Dress Competition.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Vijay said that the competition has been organized with the aim to bring awareness among the parents about the health and hygiene of the wards. She said that the competition will also encourage the parents to take proper care of health of their wards. She said that in view of nature of their duty, police personnel often remain away from their families and could not give proper attention to their wards. “Physical health and hygiene is pivotal for mental development and parents have owe responsibility to maintain the health of their wards”. She added. She also asked for proper medical care, besides proper food to make the wards healthy.
Mrs. Vijaya asked for more awareness among the parents with regard to the health of their wards. She said that a good health leads a child towards a happy future and career. Any negligence by the parents towards the health of their wards could create major problems in their future, she added.
The jury including a team of doctors from Police Hospital Jammu examined the wards participating in the Healthy Baby Competition. The babies from six months to two years were examined by the doctors to check their weight and health. On the basis of overall look, activeness, health and dress of the participants, they adjudged winners.
In the second session, participants were divided into two groups. The first group was from class LKG to UKG and the second group was from class 1st to 5th. The winners of the competition, adjudged by the jury on the basis of overall look with Fancy Dress were announced for cash prizes of Rs. 5000, Rs. 3000 and Rs. 2000, besides two consolation prizes of Rs. 1000. In the first group the winners are Master Janu, Parini Sharma, Aneesh Choudhary, Irfan Hyder and Ms. Gudia. In the second group winners include Yuraj Singh, Sandipita pandita, Mohin Preet Singh, Ms. Gouranshi and Ms Naharika.
The Chairperson thanked the members of PWWA and conduct committee for their concerted efforts put in place to ensure the participation of children and parents at a large scale.
The inaugural function was attended by all lady members of PWWA, DIG, Jammu, Mr. Shakeel Ahmed Beig, SO to DIG (Jammu), Mr. Rajesh Pran, AIG (Welfare) Mr. Rajeshwar Singh, Commandant IRP 15 Bn. Smt Anita Sharma, Commandant SDRF, Mr. Stenzin Nurboo, DY. SP SDRF, Mr. Sunil Kumar Kesar, Dy. SP (Welfare), Mrs. Madhu Bandral and other police officers.
