Rains in Kashmir expected as Western Disturbances approach

Srinagar: A fresh Western Disturbance (WD) is likely to hit the region on Mar 1 when all the three Chilai will come to an end in Kashmir, where the day remained sunny and night still chilly at several places.
The 40-day-long Chilai-e-Kalan from December 21, 2015, which was being considered harshest period of winter almost passed off without much snow though the night temperature remained below normal due to dry weather, while the 20-day-long Chilai-e-Khurd also witnessed same conditions. The last of three Chilai ten-day-long Chilai Bacha will end on February 29.
However, the weather will remain dry in the Valley till February 29.
Maximum temperature remained above normal in the Valley, where the minimum temperature was low at most of the places, including summer capital, Srinagar.
Pahalgam, base camp of holy Amanrath cave in south Kashmir Himalayas, remained coldest in the valley though the mercury was above normal.
