Rajendra appeals people to cooperate with traffic police; Drive against violators to continue

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 01: Director General of Police (DGP), Mr. K. Rajendra Kumar has appealed people to cooperate with the traffic police in ensuring an efficient traffic management in the State. He has said that violation of traffic rules affects lives and safety of the citizens, besides creating inconvenience for the road users.

Mr. Rajendra has said that traffic police, along with other stakeholders has been making rigorous effort to ensure strict adherence to traffic rules. Various preventive and punitive measures have been put in place to aware the people about safety measures and correct the erring drivers.

DGP said that special drive was launched to encourage wearing of helmet by bikers and pillions. He said that during previous months, number of violators have been booked and punished under relevant rules including cancellation of licences and seizure of vehicles. He said drivers who have been found driving without seat belts and using mobile phones have been fined besides those driving while being under the influence of Alcohol. He said such drives will continue in future also and will be expanded further.

The DGP reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir Police has taken the job as a mission to safe guard people on the roads and minimise road accidents caused by traffic violations. He said that various measures were taken to educate the road users about the consequences of traffic violations. He said that our aim is to save precious lives which are lost in the accidents caused by wrong driving. He said that safety of people is our prime concern.

Mr. Rajendra has appealed people of the State to join hands with traffic police to ensure smooth and secure traffic movement in the State.
