The BJP at centre perhaps shocked by the stringent anti-India protests and violence led by none other than separatist Masarat Alam, who was released by it’s own coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir has decided to call the bluff of the separatists. In a stern message a couple of hours back, Union Home minister Rajnath Singh took a strong stand against the activities of Alam, and said that unity, and integrity of the country would not be compromised at any cost. Singh made it clear that the Hurriyat leader will be sent to jail, and charged with sedition.
Earlier in the day several people were injured including security men after protesters in Srinagar pelted stones on the security forces, and fought pitched battles. Opposition Congress meanwhile charged the BJP of having double standards as the government has failed to act against the separatists. The Congress said that the party had kept Alam in jail for four years, and ensured that there is no anti-national taking place under his guidance. The party also asked it’s cadre to get ready for midterm polls as these could be on the anvil.
Meanwhile, Rajnath Singh told media persons that Masarat Alam would be sent to jail, and asked them to wait and watch for the action. He also asserted that sedition will not be forgiven, and those involved in anti-India activities would be made accountable.
Congress also alleged that BJP government took action against ALam after it was reported extensively on the media.
