Rajouri: Teachers Bunk school; DC blocks salary

Jammu, September 15: The Deputy Commissioner of Rajouri, Shabir Ahmed Bhat on Monday ordered no payment of salary to four out of five teachers working at Government Middle School. The DC took this decision after a member of A Village Education Committee (VEC) informed him of teachers bunking the school that falls in the Kotranka education zone of Rajouri district.

Abdul Rashid, the member of VEC called the DC at 9:30 am on Monday and told him that only one teacher out of five was present in the school while other 4 were not in school without providing any leave information. The school starts at 8 am and close at 2 in the afternoon and all the teachers need to be  in the school from 8 to 2.

On getting this information, Deputy Commissioner directed Sukhpal Singh, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Kotranka, to conduct an inquiry into the matter and furnish a report within seven days. Also, he directed that no salary will be paid to these teachers till further orders.

Also, there have been complaints about officials of the district offices being on unauthorized absence.

Acting on these information, ADC Rajouri, Mohammad Mumtaz Ali paid surprise visits to the offices of the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Project Officer, Integrated Conservation and Development Projects, District Information Officer, Sub-Office of the J&K Academy of Art and Culture, In charge, Pollution Control Board, and middle and high schools at Jawahar Nagar between 8 am and 9.30 am on Monday.

In these surprise visits, he found 18 employees including the district officer were absent without any authorized information.
