Rather inaugurated 129th Treasury in Baaghat-e-Kanipora region


Rather-27-1BUDGAM : 129th Treasury in the State was inaugurated today by the Minister for Finance and Ladakh affairs, Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather at Baaghat-i-Kanipora area, which was recently granted the status of Tehsil.
This treasury will cater to the area of Chanapora, Hyderpora, Rawalpora, Natipora, Khanda, Chattergam etc. which has a total of 22 Drawing and Disbursing Officers.Rather-27
MLC, Mr. Ali Mohammad Dar, Director General Accounts and Treasuries J&K, Mr. Altaf Hassan Mirza, Director Accounts and Treasuries, Mr. Mohammad Yousuf Pandit, Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Mr. Khurshid Ahmed Shah, All District Treasury Officers and other district officers including district heads of various Engineering departments were present on  the occasion.
Finance Minister, while addressing a huge public gathering said that the whole purpose of opening new bank branches, treasuries, government offices is to make government accessible to public such that they do not face any inconvenience in getting their rightful works done. This Treasury will be a great relief to pensioners of the area who earlier had to travel upto Chadoora Treasury.
Mr Rather said that transparent and accessible government is the hallmark of current government and all efforts have been made to ensure the   system is more responsive and accountable to the people. He said that Creation of new administrative units has huge financial implications but the objective is public convenience and good governance at the grass root level. Mr Rather said that Chadoora area of district Budgam was designated a sub-district while as B.K. Pora has been upgraded from a Block to Tehsil which will help to redress the issues of the people in a time bound manner.
Be it Right to Information Act or Public Service Guarantee Act, the purpose of enacting them has been public service”, Mr Rather emphasized saying that to weed out corruption, nepotism and injustice has been the motto of the government. He termed electoral process as the heart of healthy democracy and asked people to cooperate and participate in the process .
MLC, Mr. Ali Mohammad Dar thanked Finance Minister and Chief Minister for accepting all the genuine demands of the people  of B.K. Pora and hailed the attempts of government in mitigating the issues of public concern. He also requested the Finance Minister to grant backward status to the deserving villages of the area.
