Odisha: The body of the General Manager of the Reserve Bank of India has been found in a hotel in Jajpur, Odisha. RBI general manager Ashish Ranjan Samal was working in Guwahati. He has a paternal residence in Jajpur, Odisha. Here he came to meet his family members.
The body of Ashish Ranjan Samal, working as the general manager of RBI ‘s Guwahati branch, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in the hotel room. Samal was a resident of Narharipur village in Jajpur district. Police said that Samal had come to his ancestral village on 24 October to meet his mother. He later went to meet his wife in Bhubaneswar where his wife is a doctor in a private hospital. His son is a student of Plus Two and lives in the city with his mother.
However, he returned from Bhubaneswar the same day and booked a room for himself in Chandikhol. The hotel staff knocked on the door of Samal’s room on Friday but called the police when they did not respond. When the police opened the door, the hanging dead body was found from the fan.
Inspector Deepak Jena, in charge of Barachana police station, said that although the exact reason behind Samal’s death has not yet been ascertained, it is suspected that he took such extreme step due to family dispute.
