After drawing criticism from the educated unemployed youth, the government has decided to convene another meeting to review the alterations in the new recruitment policy. As per highly placed sources, the government had asked CSC members for a few last-minute changes before they forward the recommendations to the Cabinet for approval.

The committee is to sit together today in Srinagar to add final touches to the recommendations. Deputy CM Nirmal Singh and Forest Minister Bali Bhagat have also flown to the valley with the CM in the official chopper, after rescheduling their respective programs.

The finalization of recommendations by the CSC on June 11 evoked strong reactions from educated unemployed youth because the panel’s recent proposals fell short of meeting the crucial demands of the youth despite incorporating provision for reservation. Instead of the ad hoc/ contractual recruitment policy the youth had been demanding permanent appointments in the government sector. The only alteration in the new recruitment policy is that in the original policy, the regularization period was seven years and the committee has cut down the period to five years in the new policy.
