Jammu: Three weeks long UGC Refresher Course in Management Studies ( i.e. Interdisciplinary which includes Economics, Management and Commerce) being organised by Academic Staff College, University of Jammu in collaboration with Business School commenced today.
Chief Guest Prof. A. D. N. Bajpai, Vice-Chancellor, H.P. University, Shimla, and also the renowned economist formally inaugurated the course in presence of staff of the university.
Speaking on the occassion, Prof. Bajpai stressed upon the requirement of such courses from time to time and said that economics is the foundation of management and commerce. Prof. Bajpai said that the teachers must keep themselves updated in the field. the function.Around twenty college and university teachers are attending the Course.,
Earlier in her welcome address, Prof. Versha Mehta, Director ,School of Business Studies and the Coordinator of the Course discussed the need of such courses for the Society.. Prof. Rajender Gupta, Director Academic Staff College also spoke during the programme. Prof. Gupta emphasized the importance of such courses for updating the knowledge of teachers . He said that teachers are the important components of the society and they need to upgrade their knowledge so that they can disseminate the same to the students. Therefore, such courses should not be taken only as eligibility requirement for promotion.
Ms. Farah Choudhary, Assistant professor in Business school conducted proceedings of the inaugural function .
