To take revenge on an ex-classmate who refused his proposal, an MSc student tore up her supplementary examination answer sheets at an evaluation centre.
P Madhukumar, 26, got access to the answer scripts by taking up a part time job at the evaluation centre of the Vijayanagara Sri Krishnadevaraya University recently. He was arrested after the university authorities discovered his criminal act and Ballari rural police was informed. The police told that Mdhukumar confessed to the crime and said, “I did this because she turned down my proposal. I wanted to take revenge and I tore her papers from the answer script booklets and threw them into a toilet bin.”
The boy had proposed her when they were doing BSc and she rejected his advances. After refusal the boy began harassing her. Later, the girl joined MSc mathematics in the university while Madhukumar failed in BSc. One year after, he joined MSc computer science in the university and got a temporary job at the evaluation section for Rs 200 per day.
He got to learn how answer scripts are bundled and stored and alongside, he also started finding out how to identify the girl’s answer scripts. During the recent evaluation for supplementary exams, when he found four answer scripts of the girl, he tore up papers from the booklets but left the first and last pages intact just to not arouse suspicion.
He was found moving round in a suspicious manner by a university official and it was immediately informed to the higher authorities. The authorities reached the spot and checked all the bundles handled by him. Papers from four booklets were found torn away and upon detailed investigation, they realized all the four booklets belonging to one student. They immediately informed Balalri rural police, who visited the evaluation center and arrested the student. However, the torn papers were recovered by the police.
