Release ex-gratia relief for the families of Martyrs: Prof. Virender
BJP State Spokesperson Prof. Virender Gupta expressed his great concern and shock on the apathetic attitude of state government about the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the country. It is a general observation that our state government always showed its reluctance to honour and provide pensions to the jawans who are awarded gallantry awards for their extreme courage while fighting against the enemy and in providing ex-gratia to the families of those who sacrifice their lives during operation against the enemy and the terrorists. He said that other state governments have always showed their serious concern towards the Army jawans who showed extra ordinary performance in the battle field and sympathy to the families of those jawans who lay down their lives by giving liberal ex-gratia and compensation.
Prof. Virender Gupta said that this time when 18 jawans were martyred in a terrorist attack in Uri sector all the states to which these jawans belong to paid ex-gratia and compensation to the families of the deceased with amount of 20 lakh, 30 lakh to each. He said that It is a sad affair that government of Jammu and Kashmir state has not come out with any such like gesture on its part to help the families of martyrs, Ravi Pal and Karnail Singh who belong to our State, though in the past the state government liberally helped the families of terrorists who were involved in anti-national and secessionist acts.
The spokesperson appealed to the government for immediate release of relief in favour of families of martyrs.
