The main function was held at District Police Lines Kupwara where Deputy Commissioner Mr. Itrat Hussain Rafique unfurled the National flag and took salute. Contingents of CRPF, IRP, JKAP, JKP, Forest Protection Force and School children participated in the march past.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner stressed upon the importance of Republic Day adding that the Constitution of the country was framed to envisage equality to all its citizens. He said that today the country is witnessing development in all spheres and Jammu and Kashmir is also marching towards development.
On the occasion, colourful cultural items were presented by students of various schools.
Officers of Police and Civil administration were present on the occasion.
Similar functions were also held at Handwara and Karnah Tehsils where Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara and Sub Divisional Magistrate Karnah unfurled the tricolour and took salute at the march pasts respectively.
