RESPECT | Major DP Singh, Army’s blade runner to break his own record

Jammu, September 02: After setting a true example of ‘where there is will, there is a way’ by setting a record of running at 10,000 with just one leg, Noted blade runner of the country Major DP Singh is now all set to break his own record and all the other amputees of running in high-altitude areas as well by running at 12,500 feet.

Major DP Singh will start his journey from Jantar Mantar in New Delhi – the venue of the ongoing agitation by the veterans for implementation of one rank, one pension (OROP) – to Leh. En route to Leh, he will stop at Jalandhar, Ambala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Pathankot, Udhampur and Srinagar to interact with veterans on the OROP.

Dedicating this run to saviours of our country, the veterans, Major DP Singh lost his one leg during active service in Jammu and Kashmir in 1999 but his disability has failed to deter his spirits. He has been regularly participating in marathons and sporting events. He will also be participating in the Ladakh Marathon on September 13.
