Srinagar, Sep 12: The authorities on Saturday imposed restrictions in parts of Srinagar to prevent protests against beef ban order in Kashmir.
“Restrictions have been imposed in seven police station areas of Rainawari, Nowhatta, Khanyar, M.R. Gunj, Safa Kadal, Kralkhud and Maisuma in Srinagar as a preventive measure”, a senior police officer told media persons.
Heavy deployment of police and paramilitary forces have been made at sensitive places in the city and other major cities and towns of Kashmir Valley.
A protest shutdown has been called by the separatists against the ban order on slaughter and sale of beef in the state.
Shops, educational institutions, public transport and other businesses remained closed in the city on Saturday.
Kashmir University has postponed all the exams scheduled for Saturday.
No untoward incident has so far been reported from anywhere in Kashmir Valley.
