ReT teachers hold massive protest at Exhibition ground
Jammu, December 07: A one day protest demonstration of Rehbar-e -Taleem teachers was held this morning at Exhibition Ground, Jammu. Thousand of ReT teachers from across the state participated in the protest against the ruthless attitude of State Government toward ReTs.
They also highlighted other grievances being faced by them during their services at separate government schools around the state. While carrying a protest march, the teachers walked towards the press club and had a scuffle with police deployed outside the press club.
The protest demonstration was led by State President Vinod Sharma, who lambasted the state government and Education Department for having a biased approach towards the ReT fraternity. He said, “There are many among us who have completed five years of services, a year and a half back but have not being regularised yet by the department. We are being harassed on the name of verification and screening tests while the court has only ordered scrutinization of degrees from shady colleges.”
“The verification of degrees was started in August 2015 but it’s been months and the process is still not completed. Moreover, the state Education Minister and his subordinates are giving humiliating statements against ReTs which will not be tolerated,” Vinod added.
The president also lamented that the department has failed to streamline the salaries of teachers because of which they are not being able to cover basic needs and are on the verge of starvation.
He said the ReTs are working in highly sensitive duties like in Election, Census, BLO but they are still exempted from performing exam duties which is a clear injustice and will not be tolerated anymore.
