SRINAGAR: Coming down heavenly on the recent statements of a rightist political party, the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar today said that they are trying to create an atmosphere which is quite contrary to the secular fabric of the country and is a dangerous tendency, which can lead to disastrous effects.
The Minister was addressing huge public gatherings at Khansahib in district Budgam, Qamarwari and Baghat areas of Srinagar district.
The Minister said that the propaganda launched by a rightist party is dangerous to the secular ethos of the country, which is known for its principles of tolerance and mutual co-existence. “It is a sorry state of affairs that they have resorted to minority bashing, which is a dangerous tendency and should be condemned by one and all as it will have disastrous effects on the overall scenario in the country”.
MLA Amirakadal, Nasir Aslam Wani, MLC, Mr. Ali Mohammad Dar, besides prominent social activists of the area were present on the occasion.
Referring to various developmental initiatives, Mr. Sagar said that it is recorded history that the development undertaken by the Government has no parallels. He said several flagship programmes have been undertaken in various sectors like PHE, Irrigation, R&B, PDD, etc, which have resulted in changing the profile of these areas and have been instrumental in generating job avenues and providing much needed employment to the people of those areas.
Asking the people not to pay heed to the divisive and misleading propaganda undertaken by a political party known for its self propagating ideals, the Minister said that “the party which has been responsible for subjecting the people to various miseries by enacting certain draconian laws is now trying to mislead the people by spreading lies and floating obnoxious ideas but they will not succeed in their political mechanisations”.
The Minister said that one of the greatest achievements of the present Government is restoration of peace and development in the state and the reality can be gauged from the ground situation that record numbers of tourists are visiting the State every year. He also highlighted the achievements of the present government during its tenure adding that the newly created administrative units will soon start functioning, which would give a befitting reply to those forces that were criticizing the government’s move of creating the administrative units.
Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani and Mr. Ali Mohammad Dar also addressed the gatherings on the occasion.
They said the government has ensured sustained development of the State but certain political forces are trying hard to create misgivings in the minds of people for their own petty political considerations and nefarious designs but people should actively cooperate with the government so that their mechanisations are not allowed to succeed.
