Robbers try to rob ATM but had no idea what to do

Kishtwar, January 22: A unsuccessful attempt to steal money from an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) was made at Chinar Gali in Kishtwaron Wednesday night.

Some unidentified robbers visited the ATM of State Bank of India (SBI) at Chinar Gali during in the middle of the night on January 21 and tried to break the machine but failed to break the internal lock system of the machine. Following their unsuccessful attempt, they set the Close Circuit Television (CCTV) camera on fire and escaped the spot. The money inside the ATM however was safe.

The ATM was situated at a densely populated marketplace of Chinar Gali and there was no security guard protecting it in the night.

The incident was reported on the Thursday morning by the local people and an amount of Rs 24,40,700 was deposited in the bank recovered from the broken machine.

Besides. the police has registered a complaint under relevant section and a manhunt has been launched the unidentified robbers.
