Rs. 11.56 cr dev plan for Eidgah: Speaker
SRINAGAR : The Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Mr. Mubarak Gul Tuesday directed the Tourism Department being liaison department for holistic development of Eidgah, Srinagar heart of city. A project cost of Rs. 11.56 crore has already been submitted by INTACH J&K to Tourism department may complete immediately and submitted to Planning and Development Department by Tourism department for funding of the project.
This was stated by the Speaker in a review meeting convened in connection with the development of the Eidgah Srinagar.
Threadbare discussion was held on demarcation of Eidgah praying ground, playing field, Eidgah Park, progress in earth filling, levelling and construction of two main gates at the entry point.
Earlier, INTACH J&K presented power point presentation about the project.
The Speaker directed that a copy of the presentation made by INTACH be given to all stakeholders present in the meeting for their views. He also asked the concerned that special project proposed for drainage by UEED may also be submitted to Planning Development Department for funding. He said the major problem facing Eidgah is drainage problem and the Speaker desired that this may be attended on priority and asked Aquaf to contact Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and Revenue Department to complete demarcation of Eidgah land and remove encroachments to restore the water channels necessary for the health of Eidgah.
Discussing the issue of earth filling, the Speaker directed the concerned to complete it within a fortnight.
As per the detailed project report the project includes construction of Mehrab which the Speaker advised should be made in such a manner that it represents Kashmiri Architecture besides entry gate as proposal should also have Kashmiri Architecture. He also called for the provision of Children Park and Jogger Path needs to be developed.

Ramzan, Secretary Sports Council, Mr. Dalip Tusoo, representatives from Aquaf and other officers of SMC, Floriculture, R&B, UEED, JKPCC, Revenue, Tourism, Planning and Development and Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
