‘Process for setting up Nursing College in Udhampur on’

Minister of State for Health, Ms Asiea Naqash today informed the Legislative Assembly that during the financial year 2015-16 an amount of Rs 558.88 crore while in the year 2016-17 an amount of Rs 412.08 crore were earmarked to the Health Department in Jammu division for executing various works in the health institutions.

Similarly, an amount of Rs 544.99 crore and Rs 415.11 crore were allocated to Kashmir division during the years 2015-16 and 2016-17 respectively.

The allocations are being made by the Planning, Development and Monitoring Department on the basis of available resources cap of the State and department has no role in allocation of funds under health sector. However, due to limited availability of releases, uniform distribution of funds among various ongoing health institutions is maintained, said the Minister.

While replying to a Question by Mr Pawan Kumar Gupta, the Minister said that the Trauma Center, which is part of the District Hospital, Udhampur, was sanctioned by the Government of India during the year 2008-09 and it is functioning as such and providing required medical services to trauma cases. An amount of Rs 80 lakh was released by the Central Government for undertaking necessary repair/renovation of the existing infrastructure in District Hospital, Udhampur to establish this facility, said the Minister.

Regarding the availability of manpower in the District Hospital Udhampur, the Minister said that as many as 99 posts of doctors/paramedics are in position against the sanctioned strength of 121 posts. The vacant posts have been referred to the concerned recruitment agencies for making early selection. She further informed that presently there is no proposal under the consideration of the department for setting up of separate Maternity and Children Hospital in Udhampur as the mother & childcare facilities are available in the District Hospital.

On establishment of Nursing College in Udhampur, the Minister informed that a College has been approved during the current financial year under Capex Budget 2016-17 with a token grant of Rs 33 lakh to initiate the construction works. The department is in process of identification/finalization of suitable land for the purpose, she added.

Regarding other facilities being provided at DH Udhampur, the Minister said that funds for the procurement of Critical Care Ambulances have been placed at the disposal of J&K Medical Supplies Corporation and delivery of the same is expected soon. After the delivery, the Critical Care Ambulance shall also be provided to the Udhampur district, said the Minister.

Giving details about the staff strength in Udhampur district, the Minister said that there are 32 doctors in position against a total strength of 98. In addition, 32 doctors including MBBS/ISM have been engaged in the district to run the health institutions smoothly. As regards establishment of District Medical Store at district headquarters, the same is under consideration of the department, said the Minister.
