JAMMU: The Minister for Planning, Development and Labour & Employment, Ajay Sadhotra today conducted a whirlwind tour of Marh area to assess the damage caused to the private and public property in the backdrop of recent rains and flash floods.
Accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu Kalyan Singh, Tehsildar Settlement and a team of officials from Revenue, Rural Development and other concerned departments, the Minister visited Dhateryal, Marh, Marh Halqa, Qazi Thokrian, Harsha Thokrian, Ghai, Channu Chak and other adjoining villages of Marh.
He interacted with the families whose structures and households were damaged due to incessant rains and flash floods and assured them that the government headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was committed to provide adequate compensation to the affected families.
It was informed to the Minister that as many as 107 Animals and 7 Kula washed away besides several houses partially damaged. It was informed to the Minister that several acres of agriculture land washed away due to yesterday flash floods.
The Minister also announced immediate relief to those families who suffered losses due to yesterday heavy rainfall and flash flood in Marh block.
Mr. Bhalla asked the team of officers to record full details of the damages suffered by each affected family so that their cases are processed for compensation. He assured the people of the area that the administration would extend every help to facilitate their rehabilitation.
He said that the Government has given first priority to restoration of services and repair of public assets, besides rehabilitation of the flood affected people.
