Sagar asks officers to dovetail restoration work with RD schemes

SRINAGAR: Directing the officers of rural development to speed up the pace of work on various on various flagship programmes of the department, the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats, Mr. Ali Mohammad Sagar has said that the same can go a long way in restoring the damaged infrastructure which suffered huge losses due to the recent floods.
The Minister was addressing a review meeting of the rural development department here today.
It was attended by Secretary Rural Development, Mr. Shafat Noor Barlas, Director Rural Development, Mir Altaf Ahmed, Mission Director NRLM, Mr. Farooq Ahmed Peer, Director Finance, Mr. K. S. Jamwal, Member Secretary MGNREGA, Mr. Pawan Rathore, Joint Director Planning, Mr. Azmat Durani, ACDs, Xens, BDO and other officers of Kashmir Division.
Mr. Sagar said that the officers should redouble their efforts in the implementation of the schemes so that the damaged infrastructure and other related things which have got damaged due to the recent floods is restored to some extent. He said that the schemes of the department have a huge potential to provide the much needed employment to the people besides in creation of viable assets and also providing the much needed connectivity to the people by way of taking up creation of new link roads and culverts in rural areas especially those which have been damaged by the recent floods.
The Minister also reviewed the progress achieved by the department upto September this year and asked the officers to speed up the pace of implementation of these. The meeting was also told that the department has incurred a loss of Rs. 149.36 crore as a result of the recent deluge.
The Minister earlier convened a review meeting of the various development works being undertaken in the Srinagar city which was also attended by Vice Chairman Wakaf, Mr. M. Y Qadri, Commissioner SMC, Dr. G. N. Qasba, Chief Engineer R&B, Director Planning, and other senior officers of JKPCC.
Mr. Sagar directed the officers of JKPCC to speed up the pace of restoration work on the revered shrine of Dastgir Sahib so that it is completed in all respects. He said we have to ensure its completion with in shortest possible time so that the devotees coming to pay their obeisance do not face any inconvenience.
The Minister also asked for speeding up work on the community halls being constructed at Dullatabad, Koolipora and Rajourikadal so that the people living in these areas get the requisite infrastructural assets for celebrating their social functions.
He also called for early completion of new Zenakadal bridge, the new college coming up at Kalashpora, and various other initiative undertaken for the holistic development of the Srinagar city.
