Sahu discusses I-Day arrangements

JAMMU : District Development Commissioner, Jammu, Ajeet Kumar Sahu, discussed arrangements being put in place for Independence Day celebration at an officers’ meeting convened here on Wednesday.
VC JDA Sushma Chauhan, SSP Jammu Uttam Chand, Joint Director Information Jammu Smita Sethi, General Manager JKSRTC R. S. Jamwal, CMO Jammu Dr. Arvind Raina, Chief Education Officer Jammu Tarsem Lal, ACG Jammu Shenaz Choudhary besides senior officers from PHE, PDD, JMC Fire Services, Police, Traffic, Transport and other concerned departments attended the meeting.
During the meeting, it was decided that the main function will be held at Mini Stadium Parade Ground where the VIP will host the National Flag. He will take salute at the March Past by parade contingents comprising JKAP, CRPF, Forest Protection Force, Fire Services, Auxiliary Police, NCC, Government Boys and Girls Higher Secondary etc.
Threadbare discussion was held with regard to arrangements to be made at the venue of the main function including composition of contingent, sitting arrangements, proper traffic management, rehearsals, uninterrupted power and water supply, medicare, barricading and other issues pertaining to smooth conduct of the event, besides security arrangements.
Sahu issued directions to the concerned departments and asked for maintaining coordination to avoid any lapse. He also called for ensuring adequate security arrangements and at the same time stressed that the people should not face any inconvenience in reaching to the venue. He asked Chief Medical Officer to make necessary arrangements for dealing with the medical emergencies. He also asked the concerned department to make arrangements for the cultural programme and providing proper facilities for the participants. He said that the police and civil administration have been geared up to ensure that the event is celebrated with full enthusiasm and patriotic fervour.
He stressed that the day holds immense importance for every Indian and it is vital that there is maximum public participation on the day. He also asked the concerned officers of Education Department to ensure large scale participation of student’s in the event and also make them abreast with the importance of this national event.
