Jammu, August 4: A case of attempt to suicide was reported from Sainik Colony’s Sector-F yesterday. A 32-year-old youth, for reasons yet to be ascertained, shot himself with a 12-bore gun. The youth’s family members got him admitted to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital but after his injuries were deemed very serious, he was taken to a hospital at Ludhiana in Punjab.
Police have taken the statements of the youth’s family as the youth himself is not in a position to detail out the reason himself. In the initial investigation the case, according to the police sources, seems to be of person family problems.
The youth has been identified as Manish Sharma who is the son of Bodh Raj Sharma living in Sector-F of Channi Himmat.
Yesterday night after recharging his phone from a nearby shop, Manish came back to his residence and went straight to his room. He asked his domestic-helper to give him a glass of water. Manish called upon the helper again to ask him to get a cigarette. Soon after, Manish’s family members heard a gun shot from his room and rushed to find him in a pool of blood. Lying next to Manish was a 12-bore Gun.
The bullet was shot through his neck thereby piercing his head and had hit the ceiling of the room. Manish was immediately taken to GMC by his family.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Sainik Colony Police post Incharge, Deepak Katoch reached the hospital and started investigation.
A case was registered at Channi Himmat police station in this regard. According to police, the reason behind the gunfire is not yet known. Manish’s wife has been living with her parents’ for the last few days.
The police was trying to find out the license bearer on whose name the gun is registered.
