With the arrest of Sahil Digra @ Shallu (Age 18 years) S/O Paramjeet Digra R/O Mahalshan Ramgarh and Pankaj Sharma (Age 20 years) S/O Rajinder Parshad R/O Mahalshan Ramgarh, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted by Shri Anil Magotra SSP Samba headed by Shri Suram Singh, Addl. SP Samba and other officers namely Shri V. P. Singh Dy. SP HQ Samba, Inspector Ravinder Parihar SHO P/S Samba, SI Nishant Gupta Incharge PP Mansar, SI Vikas Hans Incharge PP Supwal and L/PSI Meenu Sharma as its members, has worked out the blind murders of Smt. Sunita Devi (who died on spot) W/O Shri Shiv Dayal and Smt. Shanti Devi (succumbed to her injuries today on 13.10.2014) W/O Late Shri Gian Chand, residents of Supwal Samba which took place during the night of 01.10.2014 at about 10:00 pm.
Pertinent to mention here that during the intervening night of 01/02.10.2014, Sahil Digra @ Shallu (Age 18 years) S/O Paramjeet Digra R/O Mahalshan Ramgarh who is the nephew of Shiv Dayal, well aware of the fact that there is no male member in the family of his maternal uncle, Shiv Dayal who is a BSF employee and posted in West Bengal, alongwith Pankaj Sharma with an intention to commit robbery at his residence, attacked the wife of Shiv Dayal namely Sunita Devi (maternal aunt of accused Sahil Digra), Smt. Shanti Devi (Age 65 years), mother of Shiv Dayal, Atul Thapa (age 13 years) son of Shiv Dayal and fled from the spot. In this murderous attack, said Sunita Devi died on spot whereas Shanti Devi and Atul Thappa who were seriously injured were shifted to hospital immediately by the Police. Accordingly, Case FIR No. 179/2014 u/s 302/307 RPC, 4/25 Arms Act was registered with Police Station Samba and investigation started. During investigation, it came to light that the younger son of said Shiv Dayal was also present at the time of attack on his family but on seeing the accused in action, he ran away from the spot towards the residence of his uncle which is about 100 meters away from his house and narrated the whole incident.
During interrogation, both the accused broke down and narrated that they had hatched a conspiracy to loot jewellery and cash from the house of his maternal uncle namely Shiv Dayal keeping in view the presence of only ladies and children in the house and then enjoy from the looted money. Both have stated that on the day of attack, they have recee the said house during the day time and approached there at about 10:00 pm. On reaching there, Sahil @ Shallu entered the house and told his maternal aunt Smt. Sunita Devi that he is coming from Punjab and could not reach his house, took her mobile for conveying the same to his parents and asked her to prepare meals for him. However, when the lady was serving food to the accused, he attacked her with tokka and also called his friend standing outside the house who came and also attacked Atul Thappa son of Shiv Dayal. On seeing this, Smt. Shanti Devi, mother of Shiv Dayal also came at that room where she was also attacked and injured by said Pankaj. Meanwhile, the yonger son of Shiv Dayal namely Nikhil Thapa who was watching the scene, ran away from the spot towards his uncle’s residence which is about 100 meters away. On seeing him fled from the spot, Sahil @ Shallu tried to chase him but could not succeed and assessing the situation out of his control, both the accused fled from the spot and reached Ramgarh. They further deposed that from Ramgarh, they took a vehicle and reached Jammu and boarded a bus for Amritsar. Thereafter, they moved towards Delhi, Surat, Golden Temple Amritsar and then reached Vijaypur during the intervening night of 11/12.10.2014 by train and proceeded towards their native place Ramgarh and made a hideout in an isolated bunker near Mahalshan Ramgarh. In the wee hours of today morning, they came out from the said hideout for the search of eatables by putting masks on their faces which the locals have noted as suspicious movement and reported the same to Ramgarh Police. On this, Ramgarh Police developed the information and informed Inspector Ravinder Parihar, SHO P/S Samba who cordoned the entire area and nabbed both the accused persons after a hot chase. Further investigation is going on and involvement of more accused persons cannot be ruled out. The weapon of offence is yet to be recovered.
