Jammu, April 18: Sarabjit Singh’s sister Dalbir Kaur, has pleaded for pursuing the case of Jammu’s Chamel Singh. She is likely to address it early to the Union Home Ministry.
Kripal Singh, who was killed in Pakistan on April 11, Dalbir Kour met Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi. She accompanied Jagir Kaur, sister of Kirpal Singh of Gurdaspur.
He died recently in Pakistan. They met Home Minister Rajnath Singh and forwarded the case of Jammu’s Chamel Singh to his office.
Dalbir Kour said that she forwarded the case of Chamel Singh to the Home Minister through Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi. Rajiv later asked for the letter to be submitted to the Home Ministry by the family of the deceased.
She said since the Home Minister had promised to address all concerns of the family of Kripal Singh, she also said that that Chamel Singh’s case would see the bright side in coming days.
Chamel Singh who hails from Pargwal village of Akhnoor was about to complete his five-year imprisonment on charges of spying. He died on account which said that he was “mercilessly beaten up” by prison staff.
Deepak Singh, the younger son of Chamel Singh said that they were given false assurance by the government, Bjp leaders use to visit us and assured us with the help but that all was a lie, noe they ahve turned their back at us.
He said a call from Dalbir Kaur to take up Chamel Singh’s case with the Home Ministry has revitalized their hopes.
Dalbir Kour said that, after getting an assurance from the Home Minister in Kripal Singh’s case, she felt it was her duty to reach out to Chamel Singh, who was a victim like her brother.
She has also told the family of the deceased in Jammu to prepare for any agitation, if needed.
She added that she will visit Jammu and meet the relatives of Chamel Singh’s.
