Scholarships worth Rs. 21.62 lakhs distributed to 244 students

NHPC Limited, Jammu distributed scholarship worth Rs. 21.62 lakhs today to 244 students of Government schools. The event was held at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary School, Bazar Qasaban, Jammu and was presided by Simrandeep Singh, IAS, Director School Education, Jammu. The students who were given scholarships were from various government schools including Govt. Higher Secondary Schools, Bazar Qasaban, Sunjwan, Bahu Fort and Govt. High Schools, Dogra Hall, Sandwan, Chowadi and Bhatyari.

Distribution of the scholarships were aimed at encouraging parents to send their kids to school. It also intended to lighten the financial burden of school education on the parents so that they can sustain their efforts to support complete school education for their children. Empowerment through education was one of the main objectives of this initiative. R.K.Kedia stated that these initiatives shall continue in future also. He also advised the students to take interest in their studies. Sh.Simrandeep Singh said that this initiative shall go a long way as education is the need of the hour.

Among others Sh. R.K.Kedia, Chief HR from NHPC limited and Principals and Headmasters of respective schools were present on the occasion.
