Srinagar: A number of people on Wednesday staged massive protests after a teacher allegedly molested a school girl in Kowai Bagh village of Pulwama district in south Kashmir.
A teacher named, Mukhtar Ahmad, of Government Middle School in Kowai Bagh area of Kakapora in Pulwama allegedly molested a girl student of 8th class (name withheld) inside the school premises on Tuesday.
As a result, the locals staged massive protests against the teacher and while lashing out at the accused they blamed that other teachers of the school were ‘backing up the accused’. They added that this is highly shameful since teachers, who lay the foundation of a nation, are in support of a molester. They demanded that the government should take stern action against all of them and ensure that the accused is terminated from his service immediately.
According to a police official, the accused teacher has been arrested and complaint has been lodged against him with the Pulwama police station. A case under FIR no. 196/2016 under section 376, 511, 356 B RPC has been registered against him and investigation has started.
Meanwhile, the Education Department has placed the accused under suspension and attached him with ZEO office at Awantipora and started probe at the level of the Department. CEO Pulwama Abdul Khaliq said that an inquiry has been ordered and two senior masters has been appointed to probe the incident.
