Schools to reopen on March 1 and Rains on March 2

Srinagar, February 29: The educational institutes including primary schools are going to reopen in the Kashmir Province on March 01 and on the contrary, the MeT department has predicted wet weather for March 2nd i.e. a day after.

As per the notification issued by the MeT, fresh Western Disturbances (WD) from Arabian sea are going to hit Kashmir that will result in scattered rain on March 2 followed by isolated rains during subsequent two days in the valley. The disturbances are going to enter valley through Afghanistan and Pakistan.

However, in Leh and Kargil, the minimum temperature has remained below freezing point. The minimum temperature recorded at Leh on Sunday was minus 8.5 degrees while at border town of Kargil it was minus 7.6 degree. Besides, the maximum temperature at Leh was 8.8 degrees and Kargil 6.4 degrees.

The base camp of holy Amarnath cave shrine located in south Kashmir Himalayas, also remained coldest region on Sunday though the mercury was still above normal. The minimum temperature recorded here was minus 2.5 degree which was half a notch above normal.
