BUDGAM: The second randomization of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and poll personnel of Budgam district, which is part of 02-Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency for Lok Sabha Elections-2014, going to polls on April 30, 2014 was held here today.
The randomization took place in presence of General Observer for Election, Mr Harbhopinder Singh Nanda and District Election Officer, Budgam, Mr. Khurshid Ahmed Shah. The representatives of all Political Parties were present during the process, who were provided the list of ballot units and control units allotted to various polling stations set up in the district in Budgam, Chadoora, Chrar-e-Sharief, Beerwah and Khansahib.
The Observer emphasized that the EVMs shall be specified for particular polling stations and no change or replacement of EVMs shall be made. It was informed that 12 percent EVMs were kept available for smooth and transparent polls in the district.
It was also told that preparation of EVMs will be held on April 23 & 24, 2014.
As many as 28,000 employees have been provided the necessary election training in the district for the conduct of free and fair Lok Sabha Elections-2014.
Later, the Observer visited Chadoora and Chrar-e-Sharief segments. Mr. Nanda was also accompanied by General Observer Mr. Ashok Kumar, Security Observer Mr. Sanjeev Srivastav, District Election Officer Budgam and Senior Superintendent of Police, Budgam.
