Poonch, Sept 13: Security forces blew up wall of the building where terrorists are present, and entered the building premises in Poonch. The encounter, which appears to be in its final stages is still going on.
Intermittent gunfire was reported on the third successive day today.
The militants, four of whom have been killed so far are housed in an under-construction mini secretariat in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. The building has two floors and several rooms and terrorists took benefit of the same by firing from different areas due to which zeroing in on the exact number of terrorists was not possible over the last three days.
A policeman also lost his life in the initial firing by the militants before they took shelter in a house and the mini secretariat.
On Monday, DGP said, “There might be a group of 4 to 6 involved in this incident. We have recovered bodies of two militants. Two more militants have been killed. We feel one or two militants are still alive. He said that militants had come with full preparation to disturb peace in the border district as there is calm and communal harmony in the area.
Militants infiltrating a day before Eid is clearly pointing towards the fact they had come here to disturb peace on Eid.”
