JAMMU: Various deputations today met the Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Mr. Sham Lal Sharma here at Summer Secretariat and projected their demands and problems.
The issues putforth by the deputationists included adequate drinking water and power supply, repair/upgradation of roads and various other issues related to basic amenities.
A deputation of various market associations also apprised the Minister with their demands and stressed on early completion of tourism related projects to ensure increased tourist influx towards important places in Jammu which will promote business activities in the region.
A deputation of residents of Channi Himmat apprised the Minister about the scarcity of drinking water in the area.
Giving a patient hearing to the deputations Sham assured that all their demands would be met in a phased manner. He also gave on spot directions to the concerned officers to take up necessary steps to sort out the issues.
Later the Minister convened a meeting with Chief Engineer R&B, SDM Akhnoor, representatives of 13 Task Force, ERA, R&B and Tehsildar Akhnoor to discuss the issues regarding compensation of land acquired for widening of road from Akhnoor to Kaleeth.
The Minister directed SDM Akhnoor to chalk out the details in consultation with 13 task force and take adequate steps in the matter as the land owners whose land has come under widening are suffering for want of land compensation.
The Minister also discussed issued related to PHE sector and directed the concerned officers to ensure that the general public does not face inconvenience.
The Minister asked for better coordination among the concerned departments and stressed on proper monitoring to resolve the issues of the people in a time bound manner
