Shahid Iqbal assigned to Presidential Election Duty in Georgia

JAMMU, June 7:

J&K cadre IAS officer Shahid Iqbal has been deputed by Election Commission as a part of three member team to Georgia from June 20, 2016.

He has been sent for preparations which will conduct Presidential elections scheduled to be held in October this year.

The team deputed by Election Commission of India deputed the team that will assist the Georgia Administration at Capital Tbilisi that will conduct election process.

Earlier Shahid was send along with three others to Kingdom of Lesotho in South Africa for guiding the country in their electoral process.

Before being appointed as Additional Secretary in Office of Chief Minister, he was serving as District Election Officer (Deputy Commissioner) of Reasi, Kathua and Udhampur.

He has achieved national fame for being a recipient of the National Award for record performance in Lok Sabha Election 2014 and State Assembly Election 2014.

Shahid had also received the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration for the year 2014-15.

He was also a part of the core team accompanying Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 37th Singapore seminar and bilateral programme.
