Sham inaugurates panchayatghar, niabat & WSS at Akhnoor
PHE Minister kicks start cricket tournament GHSS Boys Akhnoor
JAMMU: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma on Sunday inaugurated a newly constructed tube well, Water Supply Schemes (WSS) under National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) NTS at Rajwal. He also inaugurated newly constructed Panchayatghar, Niabat at Kainka Jagir and kick start the cricket tournament at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Boys in Akhnoor constituency.
It was apprised that the tube well has been constructed at Rs.235.21 lakh while Rs.20 lakh have been incurred on the construction of panchayatghar building. The total estimated cost of Water Supply Scheme and other allied works is to be Rs.235.21 lakh. The modern type panchayatghar has constructed over an area of 4 kanals land. The panchayat building which include Chairman, sarpanch rooms, meeting hall, panch rooms, bathroom-cum-toilet blocks and other allied works.
At Rajwal after inaugurating the tube well, Sham addressing the public meeting and said that with commissioning of this WSS a population of 2500 souls of Rajwal and adjoining villages would get drinking water facilities. He was informed that Rs.92 lakh has been incurred WSS till date. He asked the PHE authorities to lay water supply pipes uncovered areas and urged the people to used drinking water judiciously. He appealed the people as well as locals representatives to cooperate with the executive agencies for better and effective implementation of development programmes and schemes in gross root levels.
The Minster said the government has implementation a number of PHE schemes to provide safe drinking water every citizens of the state particularly of remote and hilly areas. He also informed the gathering presently 172 water supply schemes are functioning in the Akhnoor constituency. He also directed the concerned agencies for making efforts for preserving the traditional water resources and revival of the old schemes to further enhance water supply services in the state.
Later, the Minister inaugurated panchayat building and niabat at Kainka Jagir and addressing the gathering that the government has already empowered the Panchayatiraj Institutions with an aim to strengthening monitoring of the developmental works regular reviews will be held by cluster of panchayat.
The Minister while highlighting the importance of proper infrastructure for carrying out the day today activities of PRIs said that the some would be strengthened in every nook and corner of the state in order to facilitate their working and ensure that democratic decentralization of powers takes place in the state at every level. He said PRIs are the basic democratic institutions which can recall transform the development scenario as they are connected with the local people and well acquainted with the ground situation. He also stressed upon the panchayat members to work with more dedication and honesty to implementation of various developmental programmes.
Earlier, the Minister inaugurated Pawan Memorial Cricket tournament at GHSS, Boys Akhnoor organized by Singh Cricket Club Akhnoor.
On the occasion, the Minister met both the teams and emphasized the need for encouraging extra-curricular activity in the state and nurturing the talent in the field from early age. As many as 16 teams of district Jammu participating in the tournament. He said that number of play field, indoor and pavilion constructed in Akhnoor areas for developing the talent of local youths.
Among others Chief Engineers, PHE, Sushil Aima, SE Hydraulic, Rajeev Malhotra, SDM, SDPO Akhnoor, sarpanch, panch, executive engineers of PHE, Irrigation, Flood Control, ground water, sectoral officers were also present on the occasion.
