The Block Medical Officer has relieved a doctor, suspended a junior staff nurse and attached them with the office of the Chief Medical Officer at Rajouri for their alleged casual approach in providing timely treatment to a pregnant woman.
On September 29, Mohammed Rafiq, a resident of Kewal in Kotranaka sub-district, brought his wife to the community health centre at Kotranka around 11 pm after she suffered labour pains.
Rafiq, in his complaint to Dr Iqbal Malik, Block Medical Officer, Kandi, said Dr Farooq Mir, medical officer and Shahnaz Akhter, a junior staff nurse, both on night duty, didn’t respond in a professional manner to provide medical help and intentionally referred the patient to DH rajouri at 10:45pm on the same date.
“The only ambulance available at the centre had gone to Rajouri. My wife suffered severe labour pains and delivered a dead baby in front of the ward of CHC Kandi, Rafiq said.
The Husband of Woman & his Family demanded stern action against the erring officer/official of CHC Kandi who were on duty at that time.
keeping in view your non serious attitude and reluctant behaviour the doctor on duty Dr Malik said, “A Medical Officer of CHC Kandi has been detached to CMO office Rajouri while a junior staff nurse of CHC Kandi has also been placed under suspension and attached in the office of CMO Rajouri with immediate effect till pending enquiry.
He further said that a three-member team of department comprising of two doctors and a CHO has also been constituted to probe into the matter and submit the report within a week time.
