Mar. 04: A joint operation between the Army and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir Police, which was launched against militants last night in Chilli Pora village, Shopian district, has come to an end. The militants have, reportedly, escaped.
The gunfight started after security forces launched a cordon-and-search operation after it received information about the presence of terrorists. Recently, three soldiers were killed in Shopian when militants attacked three vehicles.
Militants holed up in Chilipora village of Kashmir’s Shopian district since Friday evening escaped today.
The terrorists fled from the spot amid heavy cross-fire with Indian security forces.
Late Friday night, security forces had cordoned off the Chilipora village after receiving inputs regarding the presence of two militants.
During the cordon off, holed up terrorists started firing at the personnel of 55 Rashtriya Rifles and Special Operation Group of Jammu-Kashmir Police.

The clashes took place in Sugan village adjacent to Chillipora village where a gunfight had started on Friday between security forces and holed-up militants.
However, the militants reportedly escaped later on Friday night, the police said.
Tear smoke was used to disperse the protesters with no reports of any casualties
