Shopian, Pulwama can be developed as Food Processing Industry hub: Veeri
SHOPIAN, MAY 11: The Minister for Horticulture, Hajj and Auqaf, Abdul Rehman Veeri today said the government is committed to work for political and economic stability of the State. He said the new culture of probity and accountability would percolate down to the grassroots level soon and the people will feel the real difference.
“People’s expectations with the present Government led by Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed are much higher as the previous dispensation caused immense damage to almost every sphere of governance,” he said and added that the people will surely feel a change on the ground with the landmark initiatives being taken by the present Government.
Addressing a public meeting here today, Veeri said the Government is committed to ensure speedy and all round development of every nook and corner of the State with focus on strengthening the infrastructure in crucial sectors like road connectivity, PHE, health, education, electricity and social welfare.
He said given their horticulture and agriculture potential, Shopian and Pulwama can be developed as hub of Food Processing Industry which constitutes an important segment of the economy. “To create a synergy between industry and agriculture, Mega Food Parks would be established in various parts of the State,” Veeri said, adding that such initiatives would not only create wealth but also generate employment avenues.
The Minister said that PDP-BJP Government, which has special mandate of the people of both the regions viz; Kashmir and Jammu, is working under a well-knit strategy to provide accountable, transparent and corruption-free governance at all levels. “People have voted for a change in Jammu and Kashmir and the Government immediately after taking over the office took a pledge to serve the people of all three regions with missionary spirit,” he said and added that the people will see a visible change on ground in the delivery system in all the departments.
Addressing the gathering, Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Abdul Haq while expressing satisfaction at the steady growth of PDP, as a platform for change, said credit goes to the disciplined, dedicated and ideologically motivated cadres of the party and people living in all the regions of the State.
Abdul Haq reiterated the commitment of the coalition government to achieve balanced development of all the three regions of the State. He said that the government is for the welfare of the people and it will dedicate itself entirely to ensure that the governance agenda worked out by the coalition government is implemented on the ground and State is put on the path of development. He said Government aims to bring peace and prosperity to the State, however, in order to bring this change the people of Jammu and Kashmir will need to come together and work shoulder to shoulder.
Legislators Aijaz Amad Mir, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Zafar Iqbal Manhas, PDP General Secretary Rafi Ahmad Mir, Chief Coordinator Mufti Sajad and former legislator Abdul Razaq Zaoora also addressed the gathering.
