Sikh who was killed in the clashes yesterday, to be cremated tomorrow

Jammu witnessed the third day of Sikh unrest today amid violent protests in various parts of Jammu. After the killing of Jagjeet Singh son of Narvir Singh, resident of Chohalla, the protest intensified and various groups in Srinagar were also seen protesting today. The youth who was killed yesterday is to be cremated tomorrow at 11 in the morning as told by official sources. Also, no immediate transfers in the divisional administration are likely to take place as demanded by the protesters.

While addressing media in a Press Conference, Sudarshan Singh Wazir, who was leading the Sikh group of protesters said that the protest will still be carried on peacefully until the four demands kept by the group aren’t met. They have also asked the administration to remove the security cover.  Following are the four demands kept by the agitated group as a condition to terminate the protest.

  1. All the divisional administration including the DC, SSP, IG and SP should be replaced with competent and mature officers who can tackle such situations more profoundly.
  2. FIR should be registered under Section 302 and only when the investigation on this is done the body will be cremated.
  3. The government needs to provide appropriate compensation for the family of the deceased. Agitation will be continued till monetary compensation as well as a compensatory job is provided to a family member.
  4. A judicial committee should be delegated by the High Court judge. This commemoration was being done for the last 30 years and the committee shall access why the situation suddenly went out of hands.
