Slathia visits flood affected areas
VIJAYPUR, AUGUST 17- MLA, Vijaypur Surjeet Singh Slathia today visited flood affected areas of District Samba and assessed the damages caused in the areas due to flash floods triggered by recent rainfall in the villages Tarapur, Koulpur, Kajyal, Bajawati, Khanpur, Barota Camp, Khanpur Camp and Nanga.
After taking stock of situation, he instructed the administration to expedite the relief measures as the people are badly affected due to torrential rains.
Addressing the gathering, the MLA said that the government was abreast with the problems and hardships confronting the people. He said that the sectors like PHE, power, R&B, housing and education have been prioritized to provide relief to the people as these have a direct impact on their day today life.
He directed the concerned officers to take necessary measures to improve the power supply/water /roads scenario in the areas, particularly the badly affected which include about 4000 acres of land where the paddy crops has been damaged due to heavy rain flood in Basantar and Devak. Safety bandhs were also damaged.
Slathia handed over a cheque of Rs.1.50 lakh to family of deceased who died in flash floods as immediate relief.
Interacting with the people in the area, the MLA said that government was committed to ameliorate the lot of people especially down trodden and weaker sections of the society, living in far-flung and remote areas of the state. He asked the District Administration to take necessary steps to solve the problems of the people.
District Development Commissioner Samba, R.K Varma, ACR, ACD, Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar, BDOs, officials of revenue department, Xen PDD, PHE and PWD also accompanied the MLA.
