No snowfall in Srinagar sends tourism in despair

Srinagar: Kashmir valley especially Srinagar didn’t receive first snowfall this year. As Gulmarg and other hilly areas have received a bit of snowfall but not in a full mood.

Valleties and mostly tourists are in despair as till this date they haven’t witnessed white feather. As most of the tourists which came from across the world to have a look at snowfall which is nowhere. Many of the tourists cancelled their advance bookings, this was said by a local travel agent in Srinagar. A travel agent Basit Ahmad said that “due to bad weather and no fresh snowfall about 10% bookings has been cancelled during last three days, I may think that prediction of snowfall are wrong as we are seeing sunny day outside” Basit added.

Many of the tour and travel operators are in despair as they said that it may put total loss this year.

Most of the tourists which came from Switzerland and other parts of the world to have a skiing here on Gulmarg slopes now moved towards Manali as it received heavy snowfall during last month.

One of the tourists Mukesh Kumar from Kolkata said that “I am here with my family members to have a look of snowfall but it will not happen. And now I am leaving back to my place as my package is going to be end tomorrow” Muskesh said this in a very sad mood.

Meanwhile Metrological Department has already issued a warning of fresh snowfall and rain across Kashmir valley for next three days, but after a bit of rain weather is now stable in Srinagar.

However Banihal, Jawahar Tunnel received snowfall from yesterday night till today morning authorities closed down Srinagar Jammu National highway as precautionary measures. Gulmarg also received a few inches of snowfall.
