Society, NGOs have vital role in protecting consumers’ rights: Shabir
JAMMU : The Consumer Protection Organization yesterday celebrated State Consumer Day to educate the consumers about their rights.
Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmed Khan was the chief guest on the occasion.
President Consumer Protection, D.R. Danish, Director Health Services, B.S. Pathania, Joint Director CAPD, Ch. Raiz Ahmed besides senior officers of Legal Metrology, Drug Control Organization and prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Shabir Ahmed Khan said that celebration of State Consumer Day provides an opportunity for enlarging the consumers’ awareness about their rights. He added that the government is making all out efforts to ensure implementation of Consumer Protection Act in letter and spirit so that the rights of consumers are safeguarded.
The Minister said that civil society, social and non government organizations have pivotal role in protecting the consumer’s rights and generating awareness among the consumers to save them from exploitation at the hands of unscrupulous elements.
