Solidarity March at JU for Rape Threat to Girls

JAMMU, April 10: Scores of Jammu University (JU) students on Monday took out a solidarity march for Non-Local NIT students after lndia’s loss in the semi-final of the ongoing T20 World Cup.
The protest march was carried out by the Law Department of Jammu University.
“We have written a petition that we are looking forward to deliver it to National Human Resource Committee (NHRC) in which we have mentioned all the unethical happennings that has happened with the Non-Locals”, said a Protestor. We want them to make a fact finding committee so that the reason behind the attack at NIT comes out in Public, he added.
Points that they have mentioned in the petition are:-
- Action against the local of Kashmir valley who have threaten the non local girls to rape them, if they do not stand down.
- Media should be allowed in the campus so that they could reach out to the Non-locals who had suffered the most during the brutality of the J&K Poilce.
- Actions against the Police official who gave orders to Lathicharge the students, when all they wanted was to visit home.
- Non-local students should be allowed to go home and meet their loved ones.
